Baltic Driftwood Stump – 130 cm

A long, low driftwood stump — 130 centimetres of hollowed Baltic beach wood. It settles naturally into a gravel bed or garden border, and the channels running through it make it an excellent hide and climbing route in a reptile terrarium.

Karolina walks the shoreline near Ventspils after every storm. Driftwood of this size is rare, and pieces with real character are rarer still — most of what washes ashore is too soft, too broken, or simply has nothing worth keeping.

What she carries home is air-dried for weeks, then brushed by hand to lift out sand and grit. Nothing is cut to shape, sanded smooth, stained, oiled or sealed. The cracks, the hollow channels, the pale silver patina — that is decades of water, salt and wind, left alone.

Because of this, there is no second copy of this sculpture, and there never will be. The photos and the video show the exact piece you will receive.

Care
Indoors, wipe with a dry cloth and keep out of prolonged direct sunlight. Outdoors it needs nothing — it spent decades in the sea already. For aquarium use, soak the piece for one to three weeks before submerging to release tannins and help it sink.

Driftwood is a found material. Nothing is cut, harvested or industrially processed for these sculptures. Orders are packed using reused boxes and board wherever possible.

Place them on a flat, steady surface - somewhere free from rush and accidental movement. Choose a space where they can feel at ease.

Balance them gently, without hurry - the stones can sense your energy. Sometimes they need a little more time to “find their place.” Remember: when they fall, it’s part of the process, not a mistake.

From time to time, wipe them with a soft cloth to remove dust and restore their natural color.

Each stone has its own unique “character” - some are more stable, others more playful. That’s why they may occasionally wander off. If you accidentally touch the cairn, the stones might happily set off on a small journey across the table or floor.

When not in use, keep them in a bag. They like having their own quiet place.
